About Sandwith.studio
Sandwith.Studio is an independent knitwear brand based in Stockport, Manchester, run by Manchester School of Art graduate, Eve Taylor.
After graduation in 2022, Eve found there was a lack of independent knitwear brands in the north, particularly in Manchester, that focussed on ethical and sustainable design. Eve then set out creating Sandwith.studio to help rebuild Manchesters textile industry, focussing on traditional hand-crafted techniques to create wearable designs for the everyday.
Every item from Sandwith. Studio is individually handmade in our studio, on a Dubied knitting machine, using yarns sourced from local suppliers.
How we make your knits
Craft is at the forefront of Sandwith.studio. All knits are made by hand using a vintage industrial Dubied knitting machine.
These machines were used primarily in factories from the 1950s onwards to produce sample garments and small production runs. Nowadays they are found mostly in schools and small design studios.
We use predominantly natural fibres with the only acceptation being a small amount of elastane that is used in our Ripple Bags to ensure durability.
We also use Lambswool spun in Yorkshire and cotton spun in Lancashire.
